Can I hook up AirPort Extreme to my existing 802.11g wireless cable router and get 802.11n performance or do I also need a new 802.11n router?

ditch the 802.11g router altogether and use the airport extreme with your modem. it supports wireless 802.11 a/b/g and 'n' standards. there are all kinds of options in the airport utility to use the different wireless standards on their own or combine them depending on the requirements of the items you want to connect to your network. super easy to set up.

  • No, AirPort Extreme Base Station will not transform or boost an 802.11g wireless signal into an 802.11n wireless signal. And, AirPort Extreme IS a router!
