Can I connect my older (2006) apple cinema display (DVI connector) to a mac mini?

I'm looking for a similar fix... I have a 2002 apple cinema display (22") that I've been successfully using with my late-2006 MacBook Pro. I bought Apple's dvi conversion kit for this (comes with power supply, because the older cinema displays were not powered). Now my wife has a 2011 MacBook Pro with the mini displayport/thunderbolt. I'd like to know how to get her mac to talk to my display with the dvi kit. Is it as simple as the mini displayport to dvi adapter? Or is there a different solution? Anyone?
