can airport extreme be configured as access point ? I am using Dlink 655 as router inside a whole house box in the wall
I am using a Dlink 655 as my router inside a whole house enclosed box in the wall and another 655 as my access point. Can the new Airport Extreme be configured as either the access point in my system or a bridge access point in another part of the house?

While I've never set up an Airport to extend a network made by a non-Apple router, you should be able to under the "Extend An Existing Wireless Network" mode or the "Bridge" mode. Since WiFi is a standard (well, collection of standards), it should work. There is a plethora of documentation on both modes on the Apple website and on Google.
