ATT service/Gateway2wire modem - wireless / works great with PC - not with MAC will Airport Extreme help?

I have read a number of forum entries that MAC has issues with ATT DSL service. Have had ATT out and a couple of times and they confirm that all is good up to the system. As much as I hate to admit it, PC works great with connection but MAC is spotty at best - often loss connection. Will Airport Extreme be a possible solution or just another junction to a bad connection issue?

  • I had the same set up. AT&T Gateway2wire modem, 1 pc, and 2 MacBooks. PC was always connected. MacBooks would get disconnected. I installed the airport extreme and now all computers are connected all the time.

No, this is false information propagated by cranks and AT&T competitors. Some people will say anything.

The wireless router part of the nearly-ancient 2wire unit can be turned off, and the modem can be connected to the far superior, current-technology AirPort Extreme Base Station.
