Philips Fidelio L1 Over-Ear Headphones with Remote/Mic
Product No Longer Available
Are these better than the Bowers and Wilkins P5 Headphones?
I am still unsure of which headphones to buy between these and the bowers and wilkins p5 both are beautiful but I want the best sound that I can get out of my 300 dollar price point.
Please Help Me!

Many reviewers prefer the L1 to the P5, with a sound that is reportedly more detailed and natural. The best is to listen and make your own opinion, since it is greatly a matter of taste, too.

I have the P5 since more than a year and I bought the L1 recently. I am not an audiophile, therefore I cannot use all that terminology however I can help you with some comparisons:
1- Type: P5 is an ear pad sealed system. It sits on the ear firmly and seals most outside noise. L1 is over the ear, semi open system. So it covers the ears, comfortably but as it is semi-open it does not seal out all outside noise. So you can hear other things happening around you.
2- Comfort: I always have an issue with P5, since it hurts my ears after half an hour. On the other hand L1 is extremely comfortable despite its size. Actually this one of the reasons why I bought the L1s
3-Sound: P5 essentially sounds like a very good in-the-ear. The music is in your head. What I like about the L1s the music is around your head. As I said before, I am not an expert on sound but I would prefer the L1.
4-Quality: Both are top notch in materials and finishing. However I am disappointed with the P5. After 6 months, the headphone cable broke down. B&W replaced them immediately but when I asked them why did this happen to a 300 bucks headphone, they said it is normal!!! Well go figure.. The cable in L1 looks much much more rugged with a fabric sealing. Let's see how long that will survive..
Hope this helps.
