are both cords the same length or is one longer than the other

Both are the same length, the mic/volume control sits in the middle where the cables join, there a 'hidden' piece can be detached to keep the cables together (similar to apple's), the controller I found to hang a little low for my preference (32 cm from earbuds, from total 125cm cable long), and to be a little chunky compared to apple's or other brands.
