Will it work on Snow Leopard
Will Pixelmator work on OS X 10.6.1? And is it adequately supported and a true substitute for Photoshop??

Yes, the program works wonderfully with OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Yes. Pixelmator 1.5 was optimized for Snow Leopard.
It works flawlessly. Opens in less than 1 second on my 2.4ghz Macbook.- Answered by MH from West Chicago
