I have a Mac Pro 8 core, purchased September 30,2009 will this card work in it? the 6 pin power cables will plug into the GTX 285 but not the Mac Pro

There are two motherboard 6pin connectors that will directly support this card with the cables supplied. If you want two cards you will have to run adaptors from the optical bay or power externally.

Loo on the installation guide. The Mac Pro has two slots forthepower cables in the lower left corner. I m running it in a Mac pro 8-core with no problem.
