Answer
No, the tvTray fits behind the Apple TV, just as if you set the Apple TV on a desk, shelf or table top. Active cooling is completely unnecessary, as heat is no more an issue with an Apple TV than is the heat of a working incandescent light bulb - at least a working Apple TV will not blister your skin.
There are three environmental requirements for Apple TV:
1.) Operating temperature: 32° to 104° F (0° to 40° C)
2.) Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
3.) Maximum operating altitude: 10,000 feet (3,000 m)- Answered by Andrew H from Carmel
