The problem might be when you insert or withdraw your MBP from the sleeve. Once it's in, there's padding between the zipper and where your MBP rests. However you can overcome this problem by carefully removing your MacBook Pro. I've had mine for about a month and so far I haven't noticed any scratches. I think it's a great buy!

I have just returned from a trip to Cardiff to find the lid of my 15" MacBook Pro scratched in three places from the zippers of my Incase neoprene sleve...as you can imagine I am absolutey gutted about this, as I brought this product to protect my laptop, not damage it. I will not buy any Incase products of this type again, beware before you do.

It has been rumored that it does although I have not encountered this issue yet. Because I heard about this, I put small pieces of tape over the zippers to make sure there was no metal against metal. But as the other answer stated there is a double lip that definitely helps with the possibility of this problem.
