Questions & Answers
With my new Macbook,if I send word docs from Mac to PC or PC to Mac via web-based e-mail they do not open at the other end.
I was surprised to find my new MacBook LESS compatible with PCs than my older Imac. I was told in the store to get Office for Mac for best compatibility, but it is not working when I e-mail docs to myself at work. Could it be the difference between Word 2004 and Word 2008, instead of Mac/PC?

Yes, the difference is that Microsoft changed the default file formats from Microsoft Office 2003/2004 to new ones for Microsoft Office 2007/2008.
The solutions are simple. First, in Office 2008 (on a Mac) or Office 2007 (on a PC) use the Save As command and select the older file format. For example in Microsoft Word the new format has the file extension .docx and the old one has the file extension .doc on the end of the filename. Second, both Office 2003 and Office 2004 have free updates from Microsoft that will allow them to open the new file formats.- Answered by PS from Raleigh
