How much better is the 5 over the 3 series? is it worth spending the extra £100 pounds?

I personally own both. It depends what you're using them for. I use the companion 5's on my MacPro when watching movies because of the 5.1 surround sound but if you're not into watching movies on your computer its not essential to spend the extra $100 because most music isn't decoded in 5.1 anyway. Haven't heard the 3, but I believe the difference is the use of 5.1.
