Is this a desktop program?

I don't think it is, but I'm looking for a program in which you can see the earth on your desktop. I have the demo version of EarthDesk which is great, but it has this irritating watermark. To get rid of it I'd have to buy it, but I don't feel safe buying it from that site. SO, I thought this looked like what I needed but I'm thinking its an application and not a desktop thing. Does anyone know what I mean? Basically I'm wondering if this is a desktop thing, or an application that you have to open.
