It means that there is one main speaker with inputs, and the accessory speaker is its pair, with no volume knob or inputs. In the picture, it is the plain speaker to the left.

I just bought this and there is no "accessory speaker" - ie, no subwoofer. You get a left and a right speaker, a cable to connect the two together, another cable to connect them to your Mac, and a power cord. That's it. Sounds great, though!
