documentation says it supports up to 30.5 pounds

According to the manufacturer's assembly instructions: "This mount is intended to support a LCD monitor having a diagonal screen size of 22.9" and maximum weight of 25 lbs." Also the wall mounting hardware included is intended for mounting on wood studs only.
