is there an external monitor that i can use to display what is on my macbook?

First things first...you would have to buy the Apple adapter--which can be purchased in the apple store...it is the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter. With this adapter you would plug your macbook into a VGA cable which is also plugged into an external monitor. You can use any external display that takes a VGA cord. I hope this helps!
