Does the IPAD Mini Smart Cover fold over to the back so that it is out of the way as if it was a paperback book?

Yes, but it doesn't magnetically latch to the back like it does to the front.

When you wrap it around back, theres no strength in the so called henge to keep it straight. Turn the mini upside down and the cover easily flops off.
