Does this charger double as a power converter for traveling in Europe? (I have an adapter, but not a converter and I don't want to blow out my iPad).

Most apple products are capable of running from European or US supplies with the correct mechanical adapter (pin configuration). 100-240Vac covers the US 110Vac, the European 220Vac and the Australian 240Vac
