Does my apple charger use electricity when plugged in but no in use?

I'd like to know if my charger uses electricity when plugging into the wall socket but not plugged into my iPhone, ipad or iPod? Thanks

    Yes, it uses a very small amount of energy. Probably not enough to ever notice on your electric bill, but the answer is still yes. It uses more while charging. I would recommend that you always unplug your charger whenever it is not charging anything. This will prolong the life of your charger as it will not be energized when unplugged.
