Does the headphone jack still work with this adapter plugged in also?

Yes it does. However I've noticed that you may have to unplug and then plug in the cable in the headphone jack at first. I'm watching a rented Apple movie on my monitor (HDMI) and using my PC speakers (via the headphone jack) right now.
