Will I be able to synch iCal iPad mini to MacBook Pro 10.6.8 with this Lightning to USB cable? I can't use iCloud with 10.6.8 and don't want Lion yet.

Yes, these offer all sync & charge features that all previous 30-pin cables had. All data available to sync in iTunes - music, movies, apps, ringtones, books, email, calander, etc. is all available to sync & transfer.
