Is the Apple external dvd drive compatable with m discs?

M discs are new and I don't know if the dvd/cd drive will read or write on them.

I have an Apple USB Superdrive, model A1379

The Mac system report specifies this external drive as "HL-DT-ST DVDRW GX40Nd". Not on M-disc list as specified

Went ahead and bought a pack of M-disc's.

Was able to insert, burn, verify and read from the burned disc. Very nice.

What I don't know is how permanent is the resulting disc. If it burns, even though not on M-disc approved list, is the resulting disc as permanent as when burned on a drive listed as 'M-disc' ready?

Or alternatively, maybe this is an 'M-disc ready' mechanism and the Apple system report is not informative about that. Maybe M-disc should update the list to include Apples model A1379.
