Is the poly cover waterproof?
Is it good for use around where it may be exposed to water such as mist or spray?

No not at all first rule for having an iPad with any accessories is not exposing it to any liquids

The outside of the covers is, this inside of the cover isn't. I wouldn't recommend it around such areas.
