Does this play video through the NetFlix app on an iPod Touch (4th Generation)

Product description notes that you can play standard videos through this device, but does the NetFlix app (and others) work the same way? This would be my primary reason for purchasing this device

    Yes, you can use this wire/cord to play videos through the Netflix application, or other such applications such as YouTube. You can also play any video through Safari or another browser and this wire will stream the video to your television.

  • Highly doubtful, as I just bought it to use with my Amazon Prime membership. I'm sitting, quite frustrated, in front of my smart TV with my iPad connected via this new cable & the movie is playing only on the iPad. I can hear it through the TV, but no picture.
