Can I delete a file or files from the history within the TC for good?

If I have various large temporary files on my file system that are squirrelled away in the TC then I delete them locally - is there a way of permanently deleting them from the TC as they might take up valueble space.

I guess my question really is - Can one "spring clean" the TC history?
