External hard drive or TC?
Would it be better to just purchase an external hard drive, connect it to my desktop, and share it over the network or purchase a TC? I currently have an ATT 2Wire Model 2701HG-B dsl modem.

If you have PCs, you'll likely be happier with an external HD, or a HD in an external enclosure. However, you'll then be missing out on the advantages of the superior, highly rated AirPort Extreme Base Station, which makes up half of the TC unit.
