Does the Time Capsule replace a router for iMac's that are connected via ethernet, am I protected on the web... I get that I am protected via wireless

I only have a cable modem and now the capsule... But my iMAC is connected via ethernet and not wireless...

    Yep, the NAT router/firewall works for both Ethernet and wireless. Note though that you really ought to be worrying about not running software and services you don't need, not running software from untrusted sources, and keeping your software up-to-date, rather than firewalls. Even without a firewall, your iMac is already quite hardy to network attacks and doesn't need a Time Capsule unless you actually want a backup and/or wireless device.
