Is this Airport Extreme (2011 model) usb 2.0 or usb 3.0? What speeds does it's USB support ? Can a USB 3.0 external hard drive be plugged into it?

Yes it does work, however you wont be able to use the full potential of the 3.0 as its a 2.0

the airport extreme has a standard usb 2.0 port however as far as im aware most usb 3.0 devices can still operate on a usb 2.0 connection so i would check in your external hard drives instruction book or on its support website about it but i think that it will more than likely work, as to the speeds the only info i can get is that its a usb 2.0 port, i cant find anything else

USB 3.0 is backwards-compatible, a 3.0 hard drive should work with this
