can i plug an external drive into an airport extreme and also connect that drive to a mac by firewire 800?
I have partitioned the hd drive, half for time machine, half for movies and I want time machine to back up a mac in another room, but the hd drive would be accessible from a mac mini running next to it.

Answer
No, a firewire drive can only be mounted by one computer/device at a time.
You can still mount the drive through the Airport, however. I would suggest wired ethernet if it's right next to it.- Answered by Steve B from Alameda
