how do i know if my macbook pro is compatable with this thunderbolt display?

If you have a small port on your MacBook Pro with a lightning bolt symbol then your computer should work fine with the Thunderbolt Display.
If you're still unsure, search for the Apple KB article titled "Macs that can be used with the Thunderbolt Display".- Answered by Julian B
