Yes. The lowest slot in the Mac Pro is double-wide, however, so you'll still have three open slots if needed.

Yes, both the 5770 and 5870 occupy 2 slots.

No and yes. The card is twice as thick as other cards, so it will use twice the space, taking up the space of the slot above it, however, to take full advantage of the card, you would install it in the lowest card slot which is the high speed 16x wide PCI slot, which Apple have designed to take a double wide card and not take up the space of another slot.
Just install it into slot 1 and you'll be fine.

Yes and No. The heatsink is a double-slot wide solution, so the height of the card will prevent you from using the slot right above where you plug this card into, but it only actually plugs into one slot.
