Can I install two ATI HD 5770's in my Mid 2010 Mac Pro?
Can I install two ATI HD 5770's in my Mid 2010 Mac Pro without using adapters?
I want to use 4 monitors at one time all through apple mini display portals... [or dvi if necessary]
I want to avoid buying the adapters.
ALSO: In the upgrade kits sold from apple.com or amazon -- how many graphics cards actually come in the package? The picture looks like two?

Answer
You get one card, not 2 (the image is just to show the 2 models)
You can put 2 of them in the computer, but only one will go at 16X; the other will go at 8X (or 4X, don't recall exactly, but for sure you can't have 2 slots running at 16X); they will also drain a lot of power...ATI cards are well known for being greedy on power, and the max amount supported by the system is 300W if i am not mistaken.
honestly if you need 4 monitor just get one 5770 and buy a cheap low level video card to use it with the other 2 monitors (just remember that you will not have the same performances, but i assume that you do not need to use games or video intensive apps (i use 3d apps and my 3870 is still running fine at high fps when i render and animate).
Other than that it should be fine- Answered by Fulvio C from Cupertino

Unless you have all the latest Apple Cinema Displays you will have to buy the adapters.
Also refer to this Knowledge Base Article HT4279 as far as what connections your card will support.
The images are stock photos of both the 5770 and the 5870, you only get one card per purchase.- Answered by Michael H from Shamong
