    Just look at the first two number sets. The third set of numbers are the update versions within an OS release. (eg: 10.6.8 is the 8th update for 10.6; 10.4.11 is the 11th update for 10.4)

    10.7 = Lion
    10.6 = Snow Leopard
    10.5 = Leopard
    10.4 = Tiger
    10.3 = Panther
    10.2 = Jaguar
    10.1 = Puma
    10.0 = Cheetah
    OSX Beta = Kodiak
