Files are application-specific, not OS-specific. As long as you have the application that created the files installed on both Macs, for example Microsoft Office or iWork, there should not be an issue with opening or editing them.

  • Well what kind of files? The basic answer would be if you have the right programs installed on both machines, then yes. If you have older versions of software on one of the machines then that machine may have issues opening some files.
