I have Mac OS X Version 10.5.8. Today I purchased the new iphone 5 and it's telling me that I need iTunes Version 10.7. Do I have to have OS X 10.6?

I have the same problem. You do have to have the OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). If you have a Macbook 2008 edition and later and 1 gig of memory on your macbook, you can purchase Snow Leopard for $20. I just had to do the same thing to allow itunes 10.7 to download, so i can sync my iphone 5. After you update to Snow Leopard, if you have 2 gig of memory, you can purchase Lion for another $20 and it will work better with your iphone 5. Unfortunatly, I did not have 2 gig of memory, but snow leopard works just fine!

Both iTunes 10.7 and the latest release, iTunes 11.0.1, require OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).

Yes. iTunes 10.7 requires Mac OS X 10.6 or higher.

To install iTunes 10.7 or 11 (and I recommend 11), you need OS X 10.6.8.
To upgrade to 10.6.8 you need an Intel Mac with at least 1GB of RAM and 5GB of disk space and a DVD drive.- Answered by Rodney W from Niddrie
