    The last version of the Mac OS to support the PowerPC processor is OS 10.5 (Leopard). Beginning with OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) you had to have a Mac with an Intel processor.

    In my opinion, OS 10.4.11 is a very stable release.

    If you do decide to upgrade to OS 10.5, it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to find it for sale.

  • The latest version you can run on a G5 is 10.5 (Leopard). It should work well on your machine.
