An old dummy, new to Mac, but willing to learn. Do I need the
Do I need the "Time Capsule" to get this contraption do automatic back-ups, or will the "Time Machine" do the same job? I'm on my second week using this new wonder (iMac)... I don't even know how to set-up the"Time Machine"! Thanks for your help.

Time Machine will work on any external harddrive, or a partition of your mac's harddrive (a partition is like dividing a section of your harddrive off – it would appear as if you have two drives). I would advise against a partition, because if your harddrive physically dies, you will lose your backup too.
Time Capsule is a solution for laptop users, to allow them to back up wirelessly, without the need to be physically 'tethered' to a network.- Answered by Martin C from Gravesend
