Will the product function using a widescreen display without letterboxing or stretching?
Will the iPad VGA Adapter display properly with a widescreen (16:9) monitor/projector/television without stretching a 4:3 aspect ratio image to fill the screen or letterboxing using an iPod Touch 4?

The answer is no, it seems to only be able to output 4:3 aspect ratio picture. This means that connecting it to a widescreen television, monitor or projector will result in stretching. This can be fixed by selecting ‘4:3’ in your display’s menu, but you’ll have black bars either side. Apple says you can use the adapter to “…connect an iPad to your television, projector, or VGA display.” But how many people still use 4:3 aspect ratio televisions?
