where does thw sound come out from the ipad or a tv when a movie is being projected???

when you connect the vga adapter to a cable which connects to the tv when a movie is being projected where does the sound come out from the ipad or the tv??? if it comes out from the ipad how can i change it so it will come out from the tv???

    you must have a earphone exstention from ipad or ipod to go to the tv to be able to play the sound
