I have a 13" inch macbook and need to replace the power cord. This may sound silly but is there a specific 60w needed?

NO! Any 60W adapter (or 85W for that matter) will work just fine ;-)

It depends on your goal. To get the exact one, find a a 60w one on this site that looks exactly like the old one.
On the other hand, I think that all the MagSafe adapters are interchangeable at the tip end that connects to the machine you want to power. The older design, with more white plastic and less metal at the tip, was more prone to damage there. The metal tipped one is less problematic.- Answered by William P from Seattle
