Does it expand a wireless signal/range, other than Airport, time capsule or airport express?
I use a Q1000 modem for CenturyLink and was wondering if it can expand the wireless range on this model.

I don't know about Q1000 but I have an ASUS Wireless Router RT-N56U (dual band) and the Airport Express will ever so often drop the wireless connection to the ASUS AP. I have to power off the Airport when that happens to recover...
