I frequently run windows on my imac, will the trackpad work on windows?

I'm an engineer and my simulators often don't work on OSX. I'd really like the functionality of the trackpad on my circuit simulators.

    Yes. Apple has written drivers for Windows XP and both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7.

  • I run Win7 and the Trackpack works the same as in leopard. This is great.

    The mouse was not able to do that.

  • Yes, it should work if you run Windows on your Mac, the same way other mice do. The multitouch gestures will not work within Windows however.

  • Simply put - Yes ! - However with 'reduced' functionality. A problem with the MS OS - (Aero not being OSX), not the Apple driver. Follow this link to the Boot Camp Update 3.2 for a grid showing the Windows functionality : kb/ht4273 on the Apple support website.

    The direct link for the windows drivers mentioned here re-directs to the above link - but you can extract the appropriate driver install package as follows :

    Download : The appropriate version from the link above for your OS - 32bit or 64bit
    Extract : The download using winzip or 7-zip
    Extract : BootCampUpdate64.msp - (or BootCampUpdate32.msp depending on your OS)
    Open : BootCamp3200mToBootCamp3250
    Extract : Binary.AppleWirelessTrackpad.bin
    Double Click on : DPInst.exe

    There you go - nothing more simple - welcome to Windows :-)

  • It does work on windows, it doesn't need Boot Camp, it doesn't even need a Mac as other posters have suggested.

    It does need a bit of work to install the drivers.

    It may not connect to an XP machine (Windows 7 standard bluetooth drivers are fine, but XP's are not very clever, if you can connect an Apple bluetooth mouse you'll be OK).

    It will give vertical two finger scrolling but none of the clever bits (yet), we can live in hope that a driver update will improve. HTH

  • Yes, it will work when paired with a PC (and I'm sure that's the same for windows on a Mac), but only it's basic functions. For example, all multitouch functionality is lost. For now at least.

  • Yes, there are drivers available for support in Boot Camp. It is unclear the extent it will work in emulators like Fusion or Parallels, but basic support, of not gestures, appear pretty certain.

  • I will more than likely work a standard bluetooth mouse under windows, but it wont have any of the advanced functionality, much like the wireless magic mouse.

  • Yes, but with limitations. You can use one and two finger gestures in Windows XP and Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), but you cannot use three and four finger gestures. If you use the magic track pad with PC hardware running windows, you cannot pinch-to-zoom or rotate either.

  • Minimum Requirements
    * A Mac computer with Bluetooth wireless technology
    * Mac OS X v10.6.4 or later
    So, no, it won't work on Windows.
