    1. Reboot your iMac by holding down the iMac power button to shut down, then pressing again to start up.
    2. While iMac is rebooting, hold the power button on the trackpad down until it flashes green (discovery mode - two short flashes, repeated).
    3. Wait for iMac to finish rebooting. A minute or so later, the bluetooth set up assistant should automatically appear (your trackpad is now connected).
    4. Trackpad should auto connect, enabling you to click the appropriate confirmation/agreement notices to complete the bluetooth setup assistant steps.

  • steps:
    -Mac OS 10.6.4 or better installed
    -check to see if you have bluetooth hardware (hold down option key, Apple menu/System Profiler, click bluetooth 4th item in lefthand column. Readout in right column will say "no bluetooth hardware" if not present on your iMac)
    -if no bluetooth, you can buy a USB bluetooth dongle.
    -systemPrefs/Bluetooth and make sure bluetooth is "on", enable "Show Bluetooth status in the menu bar" checkbox (bottom left)
    -press and hold Magic Trackpad's power button (righthand side) until you see the indicator LED flash green repeatedly (discovery mode), release button

    -if you have Lion on your iMac, sysPrefs/Trackpad, click "Set Up Bluetooth Trackpad...: button (lower-right)

    -if SnowLeopard, bluetooth widget in menubar (to the left of timemachine icon), select "setup bluetooth device", select "Magic Trackpad" in device list, once paired apple menu/software update (to get trackpad support sw)
