Does Trackpad work on 2 different OSX connected to the same iMac?

I did install an external HDD with a second OSX. I notice the trackpad works on the OSX which discovered it first. It can not be coupled through both envirronements

    On your external HDD (assuming it's 10.6.4 or better(1)),
    -establish a bluetooth connection to the Magic Trackpad
    -run software update (menu: Apple/Software Update...)

    (1) if you're running an older MacOS on the HDD, you're probably out of luck.
