According to Apple's words on this product page it should:

Yes, I went to the Apple store in the Fashion Mall (Fellow Hoosier!) and two different employees stated that it indeed did work with older ATV's.

From what I am reading this will just replace your current remote. So anything that uses the current Apple Remote the new Apple Remote will work with.

According to the page of the apple remote it is compatible with all apple products with the inferred sensor made after 2005. So yes it should work fine.

Yes the ad clearly states that this product works with apple products introduced after the year 2005 that would include the apple tv seeing as the apple tv is an apple product.
