NO! Ignore all those who said yes. According to the latest teardown photos, and it isn't mentioned any longer on Apples website, the IR is no longer part of the MacBook introduced in Oct. 2009. This means that since this remote is IR, it will not work with them. Any other computer yes, but not the new MacBook.

  • It won't work with the new poly carb macbook (oct 09) as there's no IR receiver...

  • No it will not work on the new Plastic MacBook. Apple removed the IR receiver from the front, making it impossible for the remote to control the computer. It will work with all other Macs with an IR receiver, like the MacBook Pro's for example.

  • No It will not work with the (Oct. 2009) MacBook as the IR Receiver has been removed from the machine. This is why the Apple Remote is no longer an option for the MacBook.

  • No, it doesnt. If you have an iPod touch or iPhone however, you can use that. I think that Apple is also coming out with a new remote like this just based on WiFi not IR, which is ya know, kinda old

  • No, it definitely does not work with the new MacBook. I found this out the hard way after giving one to my gf as a small present. Felt like a bit of a fool as I'm meant to know about these kinds of things!

  • It will not work. The easiest way to find out is to select a MacBook to purchase and then scroll down through the accessories. The remote is not offered, because it will not work on this MacBook.
