Does the new Apple Remote work on my early 2008 Mac Pro?

    Because the Mac Pros do not have an infrared receiver, this Apple Remote will NOT function with your Mac Pro

  • Mac Pro's do not have IR ports, so no it will not work.

  • The Apple Remote does not officially support any Mac Pro, as they do not have a built-in infrared (IR) receiver. You can purchase an external (usually USB) IR receiver and usually get that working, however it is not supported by Apple.

  • As a Mac Pro & new Apple Remote owener I can say with out doupt you will need a USB or other IR add on for it to control your Mac Pro.
    I love it on My Apple TV

  • The remote should work with any Apple product introduced 2005-present, that has an infrared sensor.
