How long is 'a long time' with regards to shutting off the Keyboard and mouse? We talking overnight here or days, weeks, months, as a timeframe.

    That is dependent on your perception of a long time. If you are not going to be using your computer longer than a 1 to 2 days then you can turn it off to preserve your batteries that is totally up to you the longer you are away from the computer and the keyboard not being used it will still drain the batteries.
