What is the actual energy consumption as a monitor and not charging any other device?

    the 165 watts seem very high. apple's 24" was rated at 78 watts at full brightness according to apple's environment report for the 24" LED. even if power consumption raised proportional to the amount of pixels (which i can't imagine being the case), the 27" would only consume about 50% more i.e. around 110 watts at full brightness.

    From the Tech Specs...

    Maximum power : 250W (LED Cinema Display while charging MacBook Pro).

    One cable with three connectors: Mini DisplayPort with audio support, universal MagSafe (up to 85W).

    Therefore power consumption when Not charging = 250W minus 85W = 165W

    That is still not accurate. I have a 32" Sony lcd tv that is rated @110w but using a
    Kill a watt meter have found that it actually uses 85watts. Guess I'll have to wait for the Apple Display to appear at the Apple Store and walk in with my meter.
