Where do you plug in the USB cord on the ipod shuffle? Is it the same as the headphone port?

Yes, you plug it into the headphones port since there are no other ways to connect the shuffle to. But you must have the specific USB (one side USB, and one side standard headphone connection) in the apple store it is called iPod shuffle USB cable.
